In this latest post, we’re talking to George, one of our hire and sales controllers whom many of our existing customers know well. Let’s find out more about George, his role, and his time at Rockthorn.
Tell us a little about yourself and your role
My wonderful role at Rockthorn as a hire and sales controller includes calling and speaking to new and existing customers to help them with their daily needs. My other roles include being one of Rockthorn’s first aiders, and making sure that all my peers are rehydrated with plenty of cups of tea and coffee as my tea making skills are 5*.
What do you like doing outside of work?
I am a father of two wonderful children and they take up most of my time when I am not at work as I love spending time with them and my partner. We love a good holiday – we’re going to America in August and I can’t wait.
How long have you worked at Rockthorn? If you’ve worked other roles in the industry, what were they?
I have been at Rockthorn for 2 years and I’m still loving every minute of it. I have worked in the industry on and off for around 6 years.
What made you interested in your current role?
I was working as a butcher before Rockthorn when Adam, the sales and hire manager, called me. I used to deal with him in a previous job and we got on really well and built a good friendship along the way. I was in this line of work before, but due to the pandemic, I was made redundant. When Adam called and this role came up, I jumped at the chance.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I love every aspect of my job, especially the people I work with. I also love a good challenge and finding solutions to people’s problems.
What is your favourite thing about your job?
The people! We are a funny, wonderful bunch and are always helping each other when needed, cracking the odd joke with each other, making the whole office laugh.
Do any challenges come with your job? How do you combat them?
There are always some challenges in whatever field of work people are in. Some of these include dealing with last minute hires, but we always find a way to combat these situations and help solve any issues.
Do you have any favourite moments from your time at Rockthorn?
Christmas is always a good laugh at Rockthorn as is any of the team events. One of my favourite moments is when Stuart and I went down to Wembley to watch Man United vs Brighton in the FA Cup.
